How does billing per minute work?
api.video charges you per minute of video stored and watched.
Hosting Minutes
We will aggregate the duration in seconds of all videos, and recorded live streams you sent to us the previous day.
Total day duration in seconds is then converted into minutes rounded up to the next whole minute. Example:
1. You have 4 videos of 10min each stored with us and 1 video of 40 seconds (= 41 hosting minutes)
2. You have 1 live stream of 1hr (=60 hosting minutes)
⇒ This results to 101 hosting minutes.
Delivery Minutes
We measure as delivery minutes, the minutes of video that have become available for viewing to a viewer. For VOD we load
segments of 4 seconds to the player, while for Live stream segments of 2 seconds to the player. Example:
1. You have 1 video of 30 seconds that has loaded to 1 viewer and it is watched in its entirety ( = 30 seconds
delivered)
2. You have 1 video of 60 seconds that has loaded to 1 viewer and only the first 30 seconds are watched (= 30 seconds +
loaded segments= 30 seconds + X number of segments pre-loaded)
⇒ This results to 1 minute + (X number of segments pre-loaded * 4 seconds/each)= 2 minutes (if there is at least 1
segment loaded)
